NEWS RELEASE January 9, 2008
On January 8th at 6:00pm we began a death investigation with the assistance of the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force and the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team. As of this time, 3:25am we have the following information.
At 6:00pm dispatch received frantic phone calls informing us that a person was being dragged underneath a vehicle that was driving in the parking lot of the 300 block of West Rollins Road. Witnesses lost sight of the vehicle as it exited the parking lot and traveled north on Cedar Lake road. While searching the area officers were summoned to the 400 block of Meadowgreen Ln ( one half mile from the initial scene) where they located a lady standing over a body in the street. The body was later identified as, Brian Boatright, a 29 year old Round Lake Beach man. Brian was pronounced dead at the scene and was the person dragged under the vehicle from Rollins. At this point in the investigation, we believe we have located the vehicle involved in the incident as well as witnesses. We do not believe this was a random act and hope to have more information in the near future. We would ask that anyone having any information please contact the Round Lake Beach Police Department (847) 546-2127. Another email will be sent out at 11:00 am when we hope to have more information.
