Message From the Chief of Police of Round Lake Beach
On March 08, 2010 I was officially sworn in as Chief of Police. I am honored and humbled by this appointment and realize that it comes with great responsibility. I will continue to dedicate myself to the welfare and safety of all residents, business owners and visitors. I would like to acknowledge the outpouring of support from peers, friends, community members and staff upon my appointment. Thank you for your support.
I have set an aggressive agenda for the department in an attempt to reduce all crime and in particular gang related crimes. We will also strive to increase traffic safety with the goal of reducing traffic accidents which have averaged over seven hundred per year the past three years. It is also important in this troubled economy to carry out this agenda within the budget provided by the Village Board.
The department will remain involved in the community through our many educational programs, volunteer groups, organizational memberships, and community events.
Your police department is staffed with competent, caring, professionals, committed to assisting all citizens but we can not do it alone. Please take steps to avoid being a crime victim. Things as simple as locking doors and turning on lights will help reduce property crimes. Please call CENCOM dispatch at 847-270-9111 when you see something suspicious in your neighborhood. Your participation in helping to keep our community safe is greatly appreciated.
In conclusion I am grateful to Mayor Hill and the Village Board for the trust they have placed in me to lead what is one of the finest police departments in the State of Illinois. My goal is to continue to earn that trust.
Gary L. Bitler
Chief of Police
